Yesterday I was able to go up and fly over the Smokey Mountains into Tennessee and North Carolina. This was the first time I got up to 10,000ft in my A240. The Rotax ran perfectly. It was a little cold up there though! I need to get the flaperon control covers put on. After I crossed the mountain range, I pulled the power all the way back, full flaps, and pitched for best glide. I wanted to see if I could go from 10k ft to the grass field (pictured) with no power. I made it just fine! It was a fun little test to do. While I was up there and barely moving, I tried to get the plane as slow as possible without stalling. I got to about 37mph before it would buffet. And even when it did stall, it 'corrected' itself. Once I got to the grass field in Brasstown, North Carolina, I pulled my cooler out and ate my turkey sandwich with a soda. It doesn't get much better than that! Just thought I'd share my fun day in the sky with y'all! -Dowdy

Glad you got up on a good weather day and had a chance to explore your plane a little more! Nothing more satisfying.
