I know a fair amount about the Aerotreks on the market right now (because I was in the market 2 months ago). Let me know if you have any questions about the ones out there.
Some have a rocky past and I don't you to buy a dud!

I would like something 2012 or newer but could be flexible for the right airplane. If I could stay under 50K that would be ideal but again it would depend on the airplane.

I think $50k is going to be a tough budget with buying one of these planes. Maybe not impossible but I haven't seen one that low (that hasn't been totaled) in my years of searching. Especially 2012 or newer.
I know a used 2017 just sold for (around) $90k. They hold their value really well.
The cheapest (certified) Aerotrek on the market right now is just over $59k. And that's a Florida plane with over 800 hours and going to need an overhaul in 4 years (2009 model).
I look at that as a positive though! You know the plane you're going to buy will hold it's value.
Any one else have input on that? I'd love to see Ray get in an A240!

A 2017 A240 just came on the market about an hour ago. It's being advertised on the Facebook page "Aeropro EuroFOX"

Thanks guys for helping with my search! That truly is a beautiful A240. Unfortunately it is beyond my current budget. The War Department (wife) has set my budget in the 50k to 60k range. I know that is going to be almost impossible. I am seriously considering N417R in Florida.

I had to check Barnstormers to know what plane you were referring to. Regarding the BRS, while I don't know for sure if there are any regulatory requirements to have it inspected...does the manufacturer (BRS) recommend a 10 year repack and rocket replacement? I sort of remember discussions on that from various forum posts over the years.

Also, keep in mind that with a 2009 model, your Rotax will be coming up on an important date.
Within 4 years of purchasing, you will need to either a) overhaul your engine, b) get a new engine, or c) to go E-LSA.
Chime in if this sounds wrong guys. But my understanding is that the Rotax 912ULS has a 2000 hour or 15 year TBO. Whichever comes first.

The BRS is due for a repack and next year a rocket replacement. From what I can tell it will cost about 3k. I was completely unaware of the 15 year TBO requirement. It has been for sale for sometime now. I wonder if the 15 year TBO is the main reason?

I have a BRS chute in my plane. You can always remove it, get a new weight and balance done, and a new equipment list made.
Then you won’t have any expenses with repacking it and the cost of a new rocket. Maybe even sell it? (Not the rocket motor part)
You’ll have more space in your baggage compartment as well.
Yes, the Rotax 912 has a 2000 TBO or 15 year TBO, whatever comes first. It’s in the Rotax manual.

The hit to the useful load is negligible. I don’t have my equipment list in front of me, but it adds about 30 pounds to the plane.
I’ve created a weight and balance calculator on my iPad (think FAA ramp check), and I can have two people in seats, and full fuel, and still have about 20 pounds of baggage and be under max weight. Max baggage weight is 50 pounds.
Personal preference- but for me and my passengers, having the chute as a last resort is worth the space it takes up and the cost of repacking. No comparison with the potential cost of lives.

I just remembered, but last year Rob Rollinson sold a 2009 EuroFox (white one). It was beautiful and perfect in every way. Had about 350 hours on it. I spoke with him about it at the time, but passed on it as I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger. Last I saw he had dropped the price to about $60K. And that was a lower time bird than the Florida one you’re looking at.
You might reach out to Rob to see what it finally sold for, and his thoughts on a 2009 model (TBO, etc).
